The secret to having killer abs is not just working on sit-ups. Sit-ups will be building the muscles underneath, however if you have any fat at all you will not be able to see them. The secret then is to burn fat from off the top AND build up cut muscle underneath. That is why diet and interval training is so important. We do not have time to go in to diet but lets look at some effective techniques.
Leg Extensions
This is one of the best exercises to get great lower abs and should be part of every lower abs workout routine. Lying on your back in the supine position (legs straight) Slowly raise your legs of the floor and up to 90 degrees. Hold for a breath and slowly lower down to 6" off the floor. Repeat 10x. Once this becomes easy you can start to add weight. By adding weight you increase the speed that the muscle will build at.
Leg Raises
Another exercise that should be in every lower abs workout routine is leg raises. Find a solid pull up bar or equivalent that you can use. Hang with your legs straight and slowly raise your knees to your chest. Do not be worried if you can not do many at first. After practice you can build up to 20 reps. This exercise is great for the lower abs and core.
